Cement Plant Valve Re-Route with Dimensional Control

Kennedy Marine carried out on-site laser scanning and dimensional control, then completed detailed 3D piping and structural modelling including FEA and highly accurate piping tie-in design. The result was a fully bolt-up project designed, fabricated and then installed at sites over 10,000 miles apart. During installation the operator planned a maintenance window of around two weeks due to expected site fabriction, but completed the full install in around three days.

In Voyage Seawater Maintenance w/ Dimensional Control

Kennedy Marine conduct regular trips to maritime vessels trading around Europe as part of maintenance and replacement of complex sea water pipes typically within the Ballast Systems.

Our Surveyors take electronic sub-millimetre measurements at flange points to create an electronic pipe jig for even the most complex pipes on a ship, typically spending around 4–6 hours onboard. This is generally conducted during loading at ports with all systems operational. Isometrics are available the same day the survey is performed.

Replacement pipes are then fabricated by our partner company with dimensional control carried out, ensuring spools are delivered to vessel for fitting with no risk of modifications or hot work. Replacement spools can usually be delivered to the next port the vessel calls at for prompt maintenance issue close out.

In-Voyage Piping Replacement

In Voyage Drain Line Replacement w/ Dimensional Control

Kennedy Marine mobilised to complete a full Drain System Survey on 2 x Exhaust Gas Cleaning Scrubbers which were leaking and required piping replacement.

Drain Line Tie-Ins on DN1000 Flanges across ~20m Pipework and 4 x Decks were recorded with Sub-Millimetre accuracy. This was combined with onboard laser scanning and 3D Modelling of PE Lined Carbon Steel Drain Pipes, additional supports and 2 x Isolation Valves.

Since the Vessel was enjoying good charter rates every effort was made to install this replacement piping as in-voyage riding team without visiting a shipyard. As well as assisting with dimensional control, Kennedy Marine captured 360 Panoramic photos of the work area and hosted these as a walk-through. The Mechanical fitting team used this platform when creating rigging plans which increased efficiency of the onboard fitting job.
